Wayland Additive And Autodesk Forge Powerful Partnership To Advance Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing

Wayland Additive is proud to announce a major step forward in its mission to make its NeuBeam Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-EB) process more accessible and production-ready: the integration of its Calibur3 system into Autodesk Fusion’s machine library. This collaboration between Wayland and Autodesk brings a powerful mainstream software solution to NeuBeam users, streamlining the entire design-to-production workflow for additive manufacturing.

The partnership enables full compatibility between Autodesk Fusion’s CAD/CAM environment and Wayland’s Calibur3 metal AM machine, allowing users to easily perform design modifications, build setup, support generation, and slicing, all tailored specifically for Wayland’s process. This end-to-end digital thread significantly simplifies the process chain for manufacturers using the company’s disruptive AM technology.

Importantly, the Wayland machine profile is available within Autodesk Fusion on Mac as well as Windows, meaning engineers can now design, nest, and generate supports for Calibur3 builds directly from macOS. While machine operation still requires a PC at the point of production, this dramatically broadens access to the Calibur3 workflow and opens the door to a much larger user community.

Darrin Dickinson, Head of Business Development (EMEA) at Wayland Additive, emphasises the importance of this collaboration, “Autodesk is a name that defines digital manufacturing, and to have our Calibur3 system integrated into Fusion’s machine library is a significant moment, not just for Wayland, but for the entire electron beam AM sector. For too long, users of advanced PBF-EB systems have been limited by fragmented software ecosystems. That’s changed. With this integration, our customers now have a seamless, modern interface to prepare, optimise, and execute builds on Calibur3, making it easier than ever to harness the power of NeuBeam.”

Dickinson also points to the long-standing relationship behind this achievement, “We’ve worked with the Autodesk team for years, collaborating behind the scenes to ensure a robust and valuable integration. This is not a superficial plugin, this is a deep technical partnership that’s delivering real value to users. Whether you’re printing complex aerospace components or medical-grade parts, the combination of Calibur3’s performance and Fusion’s intuitive software makes high-end AM more productive, reliable, and scalable.”

With this collaboration, Wayland and Autodesk are not only reducing barriers to adoption for advanced metal AM but also opening the door to broader industrial applications. The integration brings NeuBeam into a comprehensive and affordable platform (Autodesk Fusion) already familiar to thousands of engineers and designers worldwide.

Wayland invites manufacturers to explore this new capability and experience first-hand how the Autodesk Fusion and Calibur3 combination is redefining the possibilities for Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing.
