FEROZEPUR: An Indian citizen, suffering from speech and hearing impairment, was swept away to Pakistan by the swirling waters of the flooded Satluj river, and was rescued by Pakistan Rangers deployed at Ganda Singh Wala checkpost in Kasur district of the neighbouring country’s Punjab province on Wednesday.
Sources said the man, in all likelihood, was a resident of Hussainiwala village in Ferozepur district, which is nearest from the place he was found at.
On spotting a tattoo of the ‘Om’ symbol on the man’s right hand, the Pakistan Rangers handed him over to police in Kasur. He was questioned and then taken to a hospital. On Thursday, he was handed over to the NGO Edhi Foundation.
It is learnt that the man was unconscious when the Pakistan Rangers spotted him, pulled him out of the river and took him to their checkpost.
