Addressing state Congress committee members at the party office, Siddaramaiah said: “NEP must be abolished after the necessary preparations, which could not be done on time this year. By the time the poll results were out and the new government was formed, the academic year had already started.” Making changes in the middle of the academic session would have created problems, he added. Siddaramaiah accused BJP of harming the interest of students by implementing NEP in Karnataka before other states could do so.
Academics had mixed reactions to the announcement. Niranjanaradhya VP said the government should form a new panel as soon as possible as policy formulation takes time.
On the other hand, Madangopal M said: “There are some good points in NEP. The government should continue with those, rather than discarding it completely.
